چکیده

Spin waves (SWs) have been studied experimentally and by simulations in 1000 nm side equilateral triangular Permalloy dots in the Buckle state (B, with in-plane ̄eld along the triangle base) and the Y state (Y, with in-plane ̄eld perpendicular to the base). The excess of exchange energy at the triangles edges creates channels that allow e®ective spin wave propagation along the edges in the B state. These quasi one-dimensional SWs emitted by the vertex magnetic charges gradually transform from propagating to standing due to interference and (as pointed out by simulations) are weakly a®ected by small variations of the aspect ratio (from equilateral to isosceles dots) or by interdot dipolar interaction present in our dot arrays. Spin-polarized transport through a zigzag-edge graphene flake embedded between two armchair nanoribbons electrodes

We study the coherent spin-polarized transport through a zigzag-edge graphene flake (ZGF), using Hubbard model in the nearest neighbor approximation within the framework of the Green function’s technique and Landauer formalism. The system considered consists of electrode/ (ZGF)/electrode, in which the electrodes are chosen to be armchair nanoribbons. The study was performed for two types of ele...

Pseudo-time-reversal symmetry and topological edge states in two-dimensional acoustic crystals

We propose a simple two-dimensional acoustic crystal to realize topologically protected edge states for acoustic waves. The acoustic crystal is composed of a triangular array of core-shell cylinders embedded in a water host. By utilizing the point group symmetry of two doubly degenerate eigenstates at the Γ point, we can construct pseudo-time-reversal symmetry as well as pseudo-spin states in t...

1 9 Ju l 1 99 9 Edge Theories for Polarized Quantum Hall States NORDITA - 1999 / 41 CM USITP

Starting from recently proposed bosonic mean field theories for fully and partially polarized quantum Hall states, we construct corresponding effective low energy theories for the edge modes. The requirements of gauge symmetry and invariance under global O(3) spin rotations, broken only by a Zeeman coupling, imply boundary conditions that allow for edge spin waves. In the generic case, these mo...

An Entanglement Study of Superposition of Qutrit Spin-Coherent States

Considering generalized concurrence as the criterion of entanglement, we study entanglement properties of superposition of two qutrit coherent states, as a function of their amplitudes. These states may attain maximum entanglement or no entanglement at all, depending on the choice of the parameters involved. The states revealing maximum entanglement also display the maximum violations of the Be...

Selective equilibration of spin and valley polarized quantum Hall edge states in graphene

We report on transport measurements of dual-gated, single-layer graphene devices in the quantum Hall regime, allowing for independent control of the filling factors in adjoining regions. Progress in device quality allows us to study inter-edge states scattering when the four-fold degeneracy of the Landau level is lifted by electron correlations, causing edge states to be spin and/or valley pola...
